Saturday, June 25
Sunday, June 26
an additional tour is now scheduled on Sunday
Please note changes in schedule, location, and price due to hot weather!
The tour will begin at 8:30 am at the Reece Bunkhouse. Because of combining two tours into one, shortening the schedule, and adding an additional tour, we are pleased to be able to reduce the price from $60 per person to $40 per person. Reservations are limited.
Purchase tickets here or call Abby Amick, 620-271-2953 for more information.
We will meet at the Reece Bunkhouse not far from the Volland Store. You will receive directions upon making your reservation.
We won’t hike in a hot pasture!
Instead, we will drive country roads to the creek, making several wildflower stops along the way to identify, answer questions, take photos, and generally enjoy the early morning light and weather.
Upon arriving at the creek, we will wade in the water or walk along the shore, seine for fish (or whatever lies below the surface), collect rocks (if you wish), and learn about the health of the stream and the effects of the recent Spring flood. A seine and dip nets will be provided for exploring the waters. We plan to finish by noon and head back to the Volland Store for lunch.
We recommend:
sunscreen, a water bottle, and bug spray
sturdy walking shoes, creek-walking shoes, light clothing with long sleeves and collars, and a hat
a walking stick would be helpful in the creek and on the rocky shore. The ground will be uneven!
Please note that all locations are on private property. Please do not return to the landowners’ property or creek without written permission. Thank you.
