Ribbon-Cutting for the Smithsonian Exhibit

Video featuring the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and a Sneak Peek of the Crossroads exhibit

Governor Laura Kelly, Julie Mulvihill from Humanities Kansas, and Patty Reece, founder of The Volland Store kicked-off the festivities! The traveling Smithsonian exhibit Crossroads: Change in Rural America will be open by reservation at The Volland Store March 13 – April 25. The online exhibit Deep Roots and New Growth in Wabaunsee County explores the rural culture of ranching and the small-town life we treasure in Wabaunsee County.

The Volland Store is honored to be one of six venues in Kansas to host the traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian, Crossroads: Change in Rural America.

With COVID safety precautions of limited reservations and required masks, the Smithsonian exhibit, Crossroads: Change in Rural America,  will be open at The Volland Store,  Saturdays and Sundays, March 13 through April 25, 2021 with reservations available at 1, 2 and 3pm. For guests who arrive outside their reservation times, there is a nature trail that highlights the region’s unique geography.

Reservations can be made here to see the Smithsonian exhibit at Volland in person.
