HUNGRY HEARTLAND, a collaboration of the Art, Journalism, and English departments at Kansas State University

SEPTEMBER 8
CANCELED.  Kaw Creek Duo.  We regret that this event has been canceled due to an out-of-town  memorial service for a family member.  We hope to re-schedule in the coming year.

OCTOBER 5
“Tall grass Tales:  Stories from the Flint Hills” A collection of recollections of Flint Hills ranchers other cow-folk by filmmaker Mark Feiden.  Screening of the interviews, followed by a panel discussion led by folklorist and historian Jim Hoy | Potluck Lunch at 12:30 pm | Presentation at 2 pm | details 

OCTOBER 6
Closing Reception for “HUNGRY HEARTLAND.”  Conversation with artist Zhang Hongtu and National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson.  Refreshments | 2 pm

Time Machines IV: A Vintage Motorcycle Exhibit | 11 am – 4 pm both days.  Live music and food trucks.

NOVEMBER 16
Elizabeth Seaton, Curator
, Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art at Kansas State University, will discuss the exhibit Jeremiah Ariaz: Louisiana Trail Riders, currently on display at the Beach Museum. Ariaz will be present to sign copies of his book Louisiana Trail Riders | 2 pm

DECEMBER 6
 Kelley Hunt and Friends | Winter Soulstice  with eminent bassist James Albright and singer Allena Ross.  Advance Concert Tickets | $17.50 at eventbrite.com  $25 at the door.  Chili dinner by reservation $12.50.  Reservations here by December 3.
Dinner | 6 pm    Concert | 7 pm

DECEMBER 8
Emerald City Singers.  Children’s vocal performance group sings songs of the Season, Audience Sing-along, Christmas refreshments, Shopping | 2 pm

DECEMBER 9
The Volland Store closes for Winter Break and re-opens January 25, 2020.
