The Volland Store re-opened its doors in June 2015 with a stunning exhibit of photography and film by Otto Kratzer, curated by Greg Hoots.
In the ensuing year and a half, many people have asked where they can see his photographs. Although they have been exhibited periodically at the Wabaunsee County Historical Museum in Alma, Kansas, they are mostly stored away.
For two weekends and a Wednesday they will be on display again at The Volland Store, with a couple of new additions. “Volland Memories,” the film that was created to accompany the exhibit, will be projected in a dramatically enlarged size on the BigWhiteWall.
The photos are courtesy of Karen Kratzer Durso. The framed prints are on loan from the Wabaunsee County Historical Museum. We are grateful for their generous support.
If you would like to read a more complete story of Kratzer’s trip toward California on his Indian motorcycle in 1914, accompanied by more of his photos, please visit the Museum’s newly-designed website at www.wabaunseecomuseum.org Scroll down to Otto Kratzer and His Great Western Adventure.
Welcome home, Otto!
