The Volland Store will host a conversation between Mary Frances Ivey and Deanna Dikeman on Thursday, March 31st at 7 pm. Mary Frances Ivey focuses on old age in portraits of artists mothers, self-portraits, and images of imagined elderly persons in her dissertation “Picturing Age in the Work of Five Contemporary American Women Artists.” One of the five women in Mary Frances’ dissertation is Deanna Dikeman. (She is also researching the work of famed Kansas artist Elizabeth “Grandma” Layton!)
The conversation will cover not only Leaving and Waving but the other bodies of work Deanna has assembled. After the brief conversation the virtual audience will be invited to ask questions directly to Mary Frances and Deanna. We look forward to seeing you on the Zoom!
